Private Services
The government assessment process can take time, so if you need services immediately or don’t want to wait, you could consider privately funding your home care as an interim measure to access private home care services Australia‑wide.
In fact, if you choose to privately fund your services, we’re often able to start providing home care within 3-5 business days. Although you won’t receive a rebate, you’ll have access to all of our high-quality services without the hassle of waiting lists or extra paperwork.
You can also top up your package or government funding with additional privately funded services if you wish. Other options for short term care include in-home nursing and respite services.
Call us on 0474 801 695 or 02 4604 8282 to get your services set up.

Is private home care the right choice for you?
Sometimes waiting for or applying for government-funded home care is not the most suitable option for you. There are many perks of privately funding your home care including reduced waiting times and less paperwork.
When might privately funding home care be a good option for you?
Privately funding all or some of your home care services could be the right choice for you if:
- You’ve had an unexpected hospital visit and require assistance in maintaining your independence once you are discharged home
- You’ve had a fall and require some assistance at home
- You need some short-term care whilst your usual caregiver takes a break or goes on holiday
- Your income assessment with Department of Human Services indicates you’ll need to make extensive contributions to your Home Care Package
- You don’t meet the eligibility requirements for Government funding
- You are on the waitlist for a Home Care Package but require assistance at home now
- Your Home Care Package doesn’t cover the amount or quantity of home care services you require

TIP: Whilst you shop around, we also suggest you read over your home care agreement with your existing provider. Take note of any exit fees and notice periods.
Meet with your current service provider and come to a mutual agreement on a date you’ll finish receiving in-home support with them.
TIP: My Aged Care give you 56 days from the end date to enter into a new agreement with another service provider – so we suggest choosing your new provider within or before this time period.
Let My Aged Care know you wish to transfer. They will reactive your referral code.
Arrange to meet with your new provider. Take your reactivated referral code. In this meeting you can start to arrange your new home support plan and agree on a start date.
TIP: You can’t overlap providers – so make sure your start date is immediately after your finish date with your old provider. This way will not experience any gaps in your in-home support.
To ensure you have your unspent funding come with you, you must give your old provider the details of your new provider within 56 days of ending services with them. Your old provider is obliged to transfer your unspent funds within 70 days of your agreed end date.
TIP: You may be charged an exit fee – which is taken out of your unspent funds. Please ask your previous provider about this.
Congratulations! You can now begin to receive in-home support with your new provider!
TIP: Make sure to check your old provider transferred your unspent funds within the allotted 70 days.
